Inside Campus Partners
Dan Dodder: Customer Service Representative

April 2008

But even after enduring such an experience, Dan’s commitment to his responsibilities has not diminished. “I give 110% to any job I do,” says Dan.

Dan focuses his 110% effort these days on providing valuable information and guidance to borrowers. He helps borrowers resolve situations with payments and determines eligibility for in-school deferments and economic hardships. He also processes forms and forbearances, makes outbound collection calls and serves as a back-up for customer calls during peak volume times.

Kathy Riddle, Customer Service Manager, upholds Dan’s dedication to his duties and states, “Dan is very well versed in the processing procedures of all types of student loans. He is able to explain even the most challenging situations to the borrower. He remains calm and allows each borrower the opportunity to explain their problem. Whether he is handling incoming borrower calls or making outbound collection calls, he does an exceptional job with each, never failing to explain the different types of entitlements the borrower may qualify for in order to bring their loan current. No matter the task, I can always depend on Dan for a job well done.”

Dan says his approach to customer service is to listen carefully to each caller to determine their unique circumstances. “I don’t judge anyone. I view each call individually, not as a number,” explains Dan. By doing so, he is able to better understand how he can best assist the borrower. “It’s rewarding to be able to provide just the help a borrower needed,” Dan expresses.

In addition to being a police officer before joining Campus Partners, Dan also served in the Air Force as a trainer for a K-9 narcotics unit in Germany. Even though he maintains the skill, he has not attempted to train Missy, the family dog. “She’s just my 90-pound lap dog,” Dan jokes. Although his past police and military background has not affected the dog, it definitely has had a profound impact on his family.

While living in his hometown of Ft. Lauderdale, Dan met his wife, JoAnn, while still in high school. Following Dan’s career, the couple moved to North Carolina. They have been married for 24 years and have two children. Their oldest son, Robert, 23, is currently in the Air Force serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan. David, 21, is in school majoring in law enforcement. While Dan says he did not encourage the boys in their career choices, it speaks volumes of his character to have both sons choose to follow in his footsteps.

Dan handles large volumes of phone calls as part of his duties at work with such proficiency, it’s ironic that outside of work, he says he rarely ever uses the telephone. “My wife is in charge of phone duty at home,” Dan laughs. He prefers to spend his time playing golf. “I don’t hit the ball very hard. I’m just out there mainly to enjoy the weather,” mocks Dan of his golfing prowess.

This summer will mark Dan’s eighth anniversary with Campus Partners. He says he enjoys working for the company and credits much of his successful tenure to Kathy Riddle. “Whatever I need help with, Kathy is always there. She has always been accessible and she truly cares about her employees. She’s a great supervisor,” praises Dan. As for the future, Dan says he’s not going anywhere. “I plan to be around for a long time.”
