About Flatiron School

What Is Flatiron Bootcamp?

The school was founded in 2014 and is based in New York City. It has been ranked as one of the top bootcamps for cybersecurity professionals by Business Insider, and it has also been named one of the top 10 coding schools by NerdWallet.

The curriculum of Flatiron Bootcamp varies on each student’s background, but all students receive training in web development and computer programming skills before they start working on their projects.

The Flatiron course curriculum is highly structured and follows a progressive learning model that starts with basic programming concepts and builds up to more advanced topics as your skills develop. You can expect to learn how to code in JavaScript (ES6) before moving on to frontend web development with React or Angular; then move onto backend web development with NodeJS or Python; then move onto mobile application development with Swift or Objective-C, and finally finish by building out an entire product from top to bottom using all these technologies together.

The Flatiron Bootcamp program lasts 20 weeks, which means students spend two months at Flatiron working on projects related to their chosen field before moving on to the next stage of their education. The school offers a limited number of scholarships for low-income students who are interested in attending but don’t have the financial resources to pay tuition fees out of pocket.

What will Flatiron Bootcamp teach me?

Flatiron Bootcamp is a course that teaches you how to build a full-stack app from start to finish.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of building an app, from planning and designing your project to making it, testing it, and deploying it.

You’ll get an in-depth look at everything from user flows and screens to frameworks and tools. Furthermore, you’ll also have access to our community of fellow bootcampers who can help answer any questions you may have about app development.

Application process At Flatiron

  • An application is made through the website.
  • An admissions video call will be conducted after. This interview is a chance for you to show your passion for coding, your personality, and your technical skills. This interview will also give us an opportunity to get a sense of what type of learner you are: do you prefer working independently?
  • The coding challenge will be after the interview. This is designed to test your problem-solving ability and your ability to work with a team. There are two major parts of the challenge:
  1. The first part is a group project in which you’ll be given an open-ended problem with minimal direction. You’ll need to communicate effectively and devise solutions together as a group.
  2. The second part is individual, where you will be given specific problems you’ll need to solve on your own (e.g., write code).
  • The admissions team will have the final word and contact the student with a decision. This takes four business days.
  • If a student is successful in the application, they will need to complete a pre-work in readiness for the program. These will be approximately 20-hour lessons.
