About Galvanize

What is Galvanize Bootcamp?

Galvanize Bootcamp is a paid training program that provides you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a software developer.

Galvanize Bootcamp comprises hundreds of hours of top-notch training material, modules, and lectures from industry leaders. The program is designed to help you master the core skills you need to succeed as a software developer.

The Galvanize Bootcamp curriculum includes courses on web development, back-end development, front-end development, and more. You’ll learn how to use technologies like Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and Golang to build your applications for iOS and Android.

Galvanize obtained the reputable coding bootcamp Hack Reactor in 2012. This means that the courses have been designed by Hack Reactor (which is a high-status school with more than 3,500 graduates), and students can access this.

What will Galvanize teach me?

At Galvanize Bootcamp, you’ll learn how to build a successful career as a software engineer. You’ll learn how to apply your skills in the real world, improve your technical skills, and make your job easier through tools and resources. You’ll also learn about the broader engineering community and the kinds of problems it’s trying to solve.

You’ll be able to take these skills back with you and apply them in any industry. It’s not just about programming languages; it’s about being able to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds. This is an essential skill for any software developer looking for work in today’s economy.

What is the program offered at Galvanize?

At Galvanize, a student can opt for a 12-week full-time course or a 36-week part-time course. They target people interested in venturing or furthering their careers in Software Engineering, Data Science, and Data Analysis. Below are the programs offered:

Galvanize Prep Courses

If you are preparing to get into the immersive programs, a student needs to go through the prep courses. If the student opts for the free prep course, they will be given the course material to study independently. They will not be given any assistance. Alternatively, they can pay $250 and get a structured course which can be subtracted from the tuition fee if the student continues with the course afterward. The two prep courses offered are:

  1. Software engineering prep programs: This program teaches a student the basics of JavaScript. It covers problems a student may encounter, whether basic or complex, to improve their technical skill. This course will prepare you for the technical evaluation in the application process.
  2. Data science prep programs: This program will teach students the basics of SQL, Python, and machine learning. It will also prepare you for the data science evaluation at Galvanize’s application process. Additionally, a student will learn the fundamentals of statistics and how to express statistics with Python.

Hack Reactor Software Engineering Online Immersive – 12 Weeks (Online)

This program is 100% online and uses the Hack Reactor curriculum. At the end of the course, a student will be ready for a job as a software engineer. The course will teach different languages, frameworks, and computer science basics.

Hack Reactor Software Engineering Online Immersive Part-Time – 36 Weeks (Online)

This part-time course will have a student become a software engineer after 36 weeks. They will learn on a part-time basis on weekday evenings and Saturdays. The student will be job-ready after completing the course.

Hack Reactor Software Engineering Immersive with JavaScript & Python – 19 Weeks (Online)

After launching the careers of 8,000 plus software engineers in 2012, we believe anyone who wants a career in software engineering should enroll in this class. It does not need any prior knowledge as everything will be taught here.

How much does Galvanize Bootcamp cost?

Galvanize costs $17,980 whether you pay upfront or in installments. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is paid for all courses apart from scholarships and veteran benefits.

What are the payment plans at Galvanize?

There are different payment plans at Galvanize that a student can choose.

Pay Upfront: Full tuition fee is paid prior to starting class.

Monthly Installments: The first deposit is paid on the first day of the class. The student is expected to pay the balance in the middle of the course.

Loaning Partners: Galvanize has partnered with Ascent and Climb Credit to fund tuition for students who need assistance. These institutions offer low-interest financing to students.

Income Share Agreements: This is available for software engineering bootcamp students. To be eligible for ISA, you must meet the stated requirements. For remote students living in Alabama, California, Colorado, Iowa, South Carolina, and Washington, ISAs are not available.

Does Galvanize offer any scholarships?

Galvanize Bootcamp is proud to offer several scholarships to help you afford the program. We have a scholarship program that covers 100% of your tuition and fees, and we also offer partial scholarships based on your financial need.

  1. We Stand Together Scholarship

This Scholarship is offered to students that classify themselves as Black or African-American. This is a full-tuition (19 weeks) scholarship to the Software Engineering Bootcamp.

  1. Galvanize Scholarship

To qualify for this Scholarship, one needs to be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident and has been approved by the Hack Reactor at Galvanize Software Engineering Immersive (SEI) program. The Scholarship is fully funded tuition targeting immersive programs.

Is There Any Job Guarantee After Galvanize?

No. However, most students attending Galvanize Bootcamp are professionals with good jobs. However, some graduates are looking for employment and want to know if they will be able to find one after the program.

Galvanize bootcamp can help you find a job as a developer or designer. But it depends on your skills and experience in the field. If you have experience working with specific technologies, then you may be able to get an interview at a company that uses those technologies. The same goes for having experience in specific roles such as front-end developer or back-end engineer.

Can You Pay School Fees In Installments at Galvanize?

Yes, you can pay fees in installments. Galvanize allows you to pay a deposit at the beginning of the course and pay the remaining balance when the course reaches its midpoint.

Does Galvanize Offer Any Discounts?

Approved programs by VET TEC, VRRAP, and VR&E are offered at Galvanize, which aims to support Veterans in the community. There is an eligibility criterion for receiving this benefit, which one can inquire through email.

Does Galvanize Do Workshops?

As a way of enhancing learning, Galvanize offers a number of workshops weekly for free. A student can choose to attend the workshops online or in person.

What are the pros and cons of Galvanize bootcamp?

– No prior coding knowledge is required.

– Helpful instructors and well-organized course.

– Diverse curriculum

– The part-time course can be very strenuous if one has a full-time job because it takes time.

– There isn’t sufficient time to absorb the course because of the program’s intensity.

Is a salary increase expectation after a bootcamp?

Statistics from the Galvanize website show that 95.5% of Software Engineering Immersive graduates have a $95,000 compensation rate. Graduates from the bootcamp secure jobs as mid-level software developers and engineers compared to other bootcamps.

Where is Galvanize located?

With Galvanize Bootcamp, you can choose either to do the courses online or in person. The classes are offered on the following campuses:

– Austin, TX

– Boulder, CO

– Denver, CO

– Phoenix, AZ

– Online.

All these locations offer similar courses.

Application process

If you want to apply for a program at Galvanize, you go to their website and look through the courses available. Once you have identified the course you want, you can click on the “Begin Application” and fill in the application form.

After submitting your application, you will receive a coding challenge you can take on your own time. It is advisable to take the challenge as soon as you get it. The technical interview will be the last step of the application process.

Getting accepted at Galvanize is hard. If you wish to be in the frontline for acceptance, it is advisable to take the bootcamp prep. You can do a lot of practice in your free time, and this will enhance your chances of being accepted.

The short answer is yes if you are still wondering if Galvanize is worth it. If you do not know to code, you will be required to take a software engineering immersion prep program. If you are in an entry-level in your field, Galvanize will teach you skills that are necessary for this.

After Galvanize, alumni have secured jobs in well-known tech organizations like Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Salesforce. A report from the company states that 54% of students that graduated from Galvanize got jobs 180 days after completing the course.
